This painting depicts a handful of colorful ensign sailboats tied up along a pier. These were all part of a sailing school in South Florida. The Ensign is 22 1/2 feet long and weighs about 3,000 pounds. These boats are the largest class of full-keeled, one-design sailboats in the United States. The composition, the simultaneous contrast and the use of complimentary colors are what makes this a strong painting.
